Hello, Monday! It doesn’t feel like Monday because it’s technically still a holiday. The hubby is home from work. My daughter is at a friend’s house. I really need to get back into a routine! I had a great holiday month, but I need to get back to work before I go insane….too late! I have lists made, supplies ready, and ambition to go. I just need to get out of my own way. Or, maybe I need other people to get out of my way. Probably a little of both. I have classes planned, but I haven’t advertised them so I may have to move them all back a week. As a matter of fact, that is exactly what I’m going to do.
My first 3 classes of the new year are “Learn to Tie a Bow”, “Picture Frame Chalkboards”, and “Burlap and Wood ‘Love’ Wall Hanging”. I have the supplies to make the samples so pictures will be coming soon. The classes have been so much fun for me and for the ladies who come to make the crafts! That’s why I am trying to do more of those classes and add a venue so that I can do some during the day as well as the evening.
I am also working on a few things for clients, a couple of zipper replacements and a t-shirt quilt. I am also finishing up quilting and binding the quilts for the soccer girls that I started back in August. I put those on the back burner for a while, but now I am nearly done. That doesn’t include the items that I have finished and delivered. I can’t wait to catch up and focus more on the classes.
Lessons are going well too! I still teach my favorite little student, Addison, and I have picked up a few new students as well! Laurel made some great gifts of hand puppets and some curtains for a puppet theatre for her daughters. Shelly is going to be making pajamas for her grandsons and Val will be making a baby quilt. My 9 year old niece got a sewing machine for Christmas and brought it over Christmas day so I could show her how to use it. We practiced some stitches and straight lines and corners after I showed her how to thread the machine, make a bobbin, and all the basics. We made a small pillow as her first project. She picked it up very quickly! So quickly, in fact, that she spent the whole of the next day making 3 more pillows on her own! It’s all very exciting! I get excited seeing people get excited about learning something new, refreshing some skills that haven’t been used in a while, and creating something with their own hands. I love to show people that they can do so much more than they thought they could.
So, that’s a summary of what I have been up to and a preview of things to come!
I was waiting for some pictures, but they haven’t made it so I’m posting without.
Have a great day!
