DeMotte Market is back! May 7th was the first day this year and I believe it runs into September. 17 weeks altogether. It is every Wednesday from 11-7 at Spencer Park in DeMotte, IN. We seem to have fewer vendors this year, but every week has been different. We’ve also had some weather cancellations including today. Today, I’ll write about it instead of setting up my booth in the rain. If all the vendors show up at the same time, we’ll have a full little market. It is fun to see the old faces from last year and some new ones too! Now that school is out and the pool is open, traffic through the market should really pick up.
We have craft vendors,
small business vendors,
and food vendors.
We also have fresh produce from local farms, lots of plants and we even have fresh live shrimp raised locally! It’s delicious. I bought some the very first day. I just couldn’t help myself.
I don’t have a picture, but we even have a lady who makes balloon animals and a whole lot more and she paints faces. Seriously, her face painting is amazing! I will have to get some pictures next time. I think it would be fun to do a little post on each of the vendors, but we’ll see how much time I have to do interviews between set up and customers.
Also, on Wednesday, June 18, the town is starting their family movie night in the park. The movie starts at dusk, usually around 9:00, and is lots of fun for everyone. The vendors can choose to stay longer on movie nights to sell to the families who come to see the movie. The movies are completely free. Last year they also had free popcorn, but I don’t know about this year. Just bring a blanket or chairs and some refreshments and enjoy!
I’m really excited about selling at the market this year. I’m a lot more prepared and I have some really good ideas. I’ll tell you all about it and have pictures in a different post.
Have a great day!
