I’ve been wanting to recover my kitchen chairs since I got them. The fabric that was on them was very pretty and soft and very impractical. It was white and very soft, almost suede-like, but softer and with a longer nap(?). It was almost like very short fur. I’m not describing it very well so, maybe a picture will help.
By myself, I could have destroyed those seats (I’m always dropping food.), but add a husband, 3 teenagers and a dog, and it’s a recipe for disaster…or, at least, very dirty seats.
I finally found some fabric that I like and that I thought the hubby wouldn’t have a problem with. Every time I go into a fabric store, which is often, I look at the upholstery fabric. In over a year, I haven’t found what I was looking for. Of course, I didn’t really know exactly what I was looking for, but I knew that I would know it when I saw it. The Cake Queen and I were shopping in Hobby Lobby the other day and the fat lady sang. LAAAAAAAAAA! It was perfect! With a darker background and lots of colors in the pattern, but not too bold, it fits right in with my décor. Here is one finished.
I LOVE IT!!! It has all the colors I love and it won’t show spills nearly as easily! Fall is my favorite season and the fabric has all those rich, fall colors.
Two of the chairs look exactly like this one, but the pattern is shifted on the rest of them so they are all a little different, which is fine with me. I don’t like everything too matchy. I covered 8 chairs with 2 1/2 yards of fabric with some left over. I think I see a table topper in my future. The whole process only took about 3 hours (if you take all the distractions out!). I’ll call it 3 hours spread out over 2 days. I think the part that took the longest was screwing all the seats back on!
I am so happy that they are finally done and so pretty!
Have you changed or added anything to your home this fall (or spring, if you’re down under) that makes you smile?
Love to hear from you!
