Last Wednesday was the last town market of the year. The day was warm and breezy to start, but some humidity came in and turned the weather cool and clammy. Yes, that is what I said. It was a little strange. Some of us were chilled and some were sweating, definitely strange. Anyway, it was actually a nice day for the market and quite a few people showed up. They probably realized that it was their last chance, so they all came out. I sold three cards. My husband is starting to wonder if it’s all worth it. He said he would rather have me give them away or give them as gifts than spend money renting a space and never getting it back in sales. He doesn’t have any patience. He encouraged me to look into an online shop since I had talked a little about it already. I’m happy to say that I am currently setting up my new Etsy shop! I’ll tell you all about that in another post. Back at the market, I got to try out my new display items. I found a thing, because I have no idea what it is called, at Tuesday Morning. I think we have finally decided that it is a rack with a handle for cooking fish or other delicate items on the grill. Whatever it is, it’s perfect for displaying cards outside. I attached paper clips to it and hung the cards from the paper clips. Here’s a picture of what it looks like, although I just wasn’t motivated to take pictures at the market.
I also got a new cardboard trunk at Tuesday Morning. It doesn’t sound like much, but it’s really pretty and stores all of my cards and then some! I love the little rope handles on the side and they sure make it easy to carry. I really like that the inside is just as pretty as the outside.
The new set up seemed to draw more attention so I’ll keep tweaking it and making it more appealing. I have two more fairs this fall that I’m definitely doing. Hopefully, business will pick up!
Back to the Market. Like I said, it was the last one of the year. The organizer, Diva, (Yes! that is her real name. Isn’t it awesome!) was talking to all the vendors about ideas to make it bigger, better and more exciting next year. Something that the whole town will feel like they’re missing if they don’t show up. We are all supposed to come up with some ideas and we’ll have a brainstorming meeting in the spring, before the market opens. I don’t know about the other vendors, but Diva and I came up with some really great ideas already. I can’t wait to hear what everyone else has to say! It should be really fun.
A couple of the ideas that we’re throwing around are a Fall Fest and Christmas in the Park. They had a Christmas thing last year, which I missed, naturally, and we’d like to expand on it this year. It sounds like a lot of fun! I already have about 2 pages of ideas in my notebook! I really know how to take something and run.
Have a Scrappy Day!
*Honestly, I don’t feel very ‘gardengirl’ this year. My interests tend to wander and come back around.
