I’ve not been feeling too great and am a bit behind on Mom’s Recipe Box (and a few other things). I am feeling better today, but you’ll have to settle for a recipe from my recipe box. I mentioned it in Refocus Friday-A Good Week. They are a simple and delicious treat for any time of the year.
They make 24-36 bars depending on how big you cut them. I usually cut these on the small side because they are rich. If you look closely, you can see the tape on the paper. The taping recipes to index cards trait that my mom had rubbed off on me. After a while they all fall off the index cards though and you’re left with a bunch of little pieces of paper anyway. That is why I started my own personal recipe box project way back in August. You can learn more about that project in my post Recipe Boxes. It is still a work in progress. That sounds so much better than unfinished project.
My kids and my brother love these bars (and me too!) so they are highly recommended. They are really easy to make, even easier than Rice Krispie Treats! Without further ado……the recipe!
Double Delicious Halloween Bars
1/2 cup margarine or butter
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk (NOT evaporated milk)
1 pkg. (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup peanut butter chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees (325 for glass dish). In 13×9 baking pan, melt butter in oven. Sprinkle crumbs evenly over melted butter; pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over crumbs; top with chips; press down firmly. Bake 25-30 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool. Cut into bars.
