The quilt that I have been making for my cousin David and his bride Kelly is finally finished. Sorry it took so long guys! Their wedding was in September of last year so I’m only 6 months late. That’s better than four years Uncle Bud! Litlle inside joke…my mom crocheted an afghan for her baby brother’s high school graduation…he got it for his college graduation. According to that schedule, I am way ahead of the game.
I am so excited that it’s finished because I have the procrastination gene and this was a major project that I have actually finished. I am showing it in a quilt show before it gets shipped off to David and Kelly and that show isn’t until April 20th. I finished it a month early for that. THAT is truly exciting to me. It means I can defeat that nasty procrastination gene. That is something to be optimistic about!
It greatly encourages me to finish the rest of my projects for the quilt show. They probably seem small to other people, but they all add up to a lot for me. I have to finish a quilted vest, a table topper, and 15 mug rugs. All of them need to be quilted and bound. I am now confident that I can finish everything even though I am learning some new techniques as I go. You can see the vest in this previous post, and you can see the table topper here. The mug rugs are all made from scraps from David’s Quilt shown above.
Finishing this quilt has made me feel so good about myself. Does anyone else get a light and happy feeling when they accomplish a goal? I’m sure someone does. It energizes me! If you have problems with procrastination, I am proof that it can be overcome. I mean, seriously, I started some hunting pants for my husband several years ago and they are still not finished. All I had to do was finish the waistband and hem them! They won’t even fit him anymore. I have overcome! I am woman! Hear me roar! …. and don’t stop me in the middle of a project.
To all you procrastinators out there, it can be defeated! Think positive and have a little faith in yourself. You may also want to say a little prayer and ask for the Big Guy for help. It definitely helps!
