I have been very busy working on several quilting projects. Most of them are for my quilt club, but one is just for me. The name of my quilt club is Country Cut-Ups and we meet every two weeks. We are supposed to wear a nametag at each meeting because there are so many of us and several new members. If you’re caught without a nametag, then the lady in charge of nametags charges you a quarter. Since I don’t want to go broke a quarter at a time, I finally made my nametag and finished it at the last meeting.
I just took a couple of green scraps and sewed them together with some batting in the middle, then I embroidered my name onto it. If you look closely, you can see where I wrote my name up higher, but it wasn’t centered. Oh, well, maybe it will come out, maybe it won’t. I also can’t find my tin of safety pins….can anyone say what the????….so I used my needle to fasten it. I can’t believe I can’t find my safety pins.
We are having a quilt show in April and everyone from the club has to wear something that distinguishes them as being a member. It can either be a vest or a collar thing, not sure what to call it. They all match in that they are made of muslin, or some similar fabric in an off-white color, and have a nine-patch square stitched to the back. I chose the vest and started it at the last meeting.
The first picture just shows the vest with the patch sitting on the front. The second, it is centered on the back where I sewed it on. We can quilt them any way we want. The green fabric has oak leaves and acorns, so I want to quilt an oak leaf onto the nine-patch. So far, I have drawn the pattern and pinned it on.
I think it will look very nice. It will also be my first official attempt at free-motion quilting. Wish me luck! I know I can do it if my machine cooperates!
Another project I have been working on is the Craftsy Block of the Month. I finished February’s blocks a while ago and have decided to make another table topper from them, this one about twice the size of my first one with the January Block of the Month.
These are my four block laid out on some blue fabric. They look like flowers to me, so I am going to make a spring/summer tabletopper. I have changed the blue background fabric and found some border fabric and drawn a pattern, all of which will be in a future post.
As you can see, I have been very busy and I still have a lot to do, so I’m signing off and will show you some finished stuff very soon!…..I hope!
