I’m not sure why I decided to attempt this challenge. In the last week, I heard whispers about it, but had no idea what it was. A blogger that I follow posted on her page that she was going to do it, and then another yesterday, asked if we were all ready for NaNoWriMo. Also, because I did the weekly challenge, another blogger found me who actually has a published memoir, which is something that I want to do, albeit in the future, not now. I was intrigued, so I clicked on the link and after reading a little about it decided what the heck, why not. Basically, you have to try to write 50,000 words during the month of November, essentially a novel. They specifically tell you not to correct anything as you go, just spew it out and fix it in December. Who knows, it could be fun. Mine is going to be a memoir, so if I come up blank one day, I can just start copying pages out of my journals! There is method to my madness. I just hope the madness is kept to a minimum.
Hmmm, now that I think about it, two of these people are published authors. Second thoughts? Perhaps, but I’m going for it anyway! The other lady is just your average person, like me, so I maintain hope. Her blog is about life with her husband who has Parkinson’s Disease, a teenage son, and menagerie of pets, mostly birds. Look her up here if that interests you.
These two authors have very different websites, but both are very good nonetheless. Here are their links:
WISH ME LUCK! Oops, I almost forgot. Here is the link to NaNoWriMo just in case you want to try it too! They also have an option for kids. A girl at the local middle school participated last year. She wrote a novella in 8th grade.
