I have a room in my basement that is my multi-purpose room. I may have mentioned it before, but today I’m going to write a whole post about it…You lucky devils. It is actually my laundry room, but several years ago my husband enlarged it and made a sewing space for me. I’d say it’s about 12×12. Over the years I have accumulated a large amount of fabric and craft supplies, scrapbooking essentials (yeah, only what’s absolutely necessary, tee hee). It is also where all the items that need mending or hemming or some other sort of repair are put in the hopes that I will actually do the necessary repairs. This includes, among many other things, a set of deer antlers belonging to my younger son that fell off the wall, thanks to my older son, and broke. They just need a really good glue, but I believe that they have been there for about 2 years. It is also where everything that doesn’t have any other place to go ends up, including several small appliances and surplus household supplies.
A couple of weeks ago I decided to clean out that room, because I can’t use it for what it was intended, sewing. It took me two solid days and a little more to finally get it cleaned out and rearranged into a suitable space for all of my hobbies. I have a laundry corner. (On laundry days it’s actually half the room.) I have a sewing wall with my sewing table and storage cabinet extending the length of the room with several items stored underneath the table and stacked on top of the cabinet. There is also a craft cabinet where I store all crafting supplies. The doors don’t quite close and several things are also piled on top of it. There is also a scrapbooking corner with a set of shelves and a rolling cart. Did I mention that the room is only about 12×12?
Outside of that room, I had a mountain of stuff that I decided I didn’t need or just plain didn’t have room for. Normally, this all would have gone to Salvation Army, but, unbelievably, my neighbor texted me and asked if I wanted to do a garage sale with her. I hauled everything over there and the end result was a fairly organized space for my hobbies and laundry and the rest of the basement was again usable for video games and general teenage lounging.
Now I just have to use my acquired stash to complete some projects. The biggest challenge will be scrapbooks for all three of my kids. It will also remove the most amount of “stuff” from my room.
Happy Scrapping, Crafting, Sewing, Quilting, (Laundering?) and Halloween!
