Do you decorate for the different seasons? I like to change up my silk flowers and create little vignettes where I can. Fall is my favorite season and we love the outdoors, so there is always a little of those flavors in my home, but I add a little extra here and there. This year I was really on top of it and changed everything at the beginning of October, (as opposed to 2 days before Halloween). Into the attic went my seashells and lilies and out came the pumpkins, leaves, and coneflowers. My pictures are horrible, (Have I mentioned that I hate this camera?) but they show a little bit of what I do. Well, there you have blown out and too dark. It’s really quite cute with the twisted pumpkins, some gourds and coneflowers, with some silk leaves tossed around for good measure.
My mantle has more of the same with a scarecrow thrown in there sitting on my stack of books.
On another wall is a shelf with some year round owls and framed art with a fall leaf tealight holder. I like the orange pillar all year for a splash of color. Framed underneath the shelf, is a little nine-patch quilt that I made from my grandpa’s ties. I made several of them for family.
With a doggie bonus!
Here are a couple other places that I added little touches of fall.
Ok, those are some of the things that I like to do for fall. This week I’ll be decorating for Halloween outside and carving some pumpkins. We did family pictures outside in the yard yesterday, compliments of my father-in-law, the real photographer. Almost all of our family pictures are in the fall. It’s just so pretty and colorful! Soon it will be time to rake leaves and I am making a vow to have a bonfire this year. When the kids were younger we had Halloween parties outside. Maybe I can sneak one more in. After all, who doesn’t like being wrapped up in toilet paper like a mummy and trying to grab marshmallows with your mouth from a witch’s broom, not to mention a good scary story by the fire.
