Yesterday I put some more recipes into my computer using my “neat” scanner. In the process of labeling them, I discovered that I can sort them according to category. It was very exciting for me because I thought that I was going to have to remember the names of recipes in order to find them. Actually, I can sort them according to category, type, or comments that I have made about them. And probably a few other ways, but that is for me to learn another day. I can only do so many recipes in a day because I have a life, sort of. Anyway, I do a little bit of everything, or at least several things, each day and that makes progress slow in all areas. I should probably pick a day or two to complete one thing and feel that sense of accomplishment, but I feel guilty when I let other stuff slide.
I had a pile of tomatoes that I had harvested from the garden and the fruit flies were annoying so I decided to make spaghetti sauce and jar it. Why do they call it ‘canning’ when everything goes in jars? I am such a rebel. My husband says I just like to argue everything. Either way, it’s a legitimate question. Back to the tomatoes……I have been putting off (aka procrastinating) cooking them because the whole process of blanching the tomatoes and peeling them seemed daunting. It turns out that it was rather easy and my sauce turned out pretty good. I need to fiddle with the spices a bit, but I can doctor these when I make pasta next. I used a combination of my fresh herbs and some store-bought ones that I want to get rid of. I ended up with 3 quarts and some extra of sauce. I decided that that was a good amount and now I won’t be afraid to make it next time.
In the morning, I found a butterfly on the deck. It wasn’t flying anywhere so I put my hand down in front of it and it climbed on. I walked around and sat down and showed JB and it never flew away. It must have been dying because even when I put it on my butterfly bush it didn’t eat or fly away. It was my pet for a little while.
Does anyone know what kind of butterfly it is?
That’s all I have for today. Should have titled this entry “Little Bit of Everything Revisited”.
